By Webster’s definition: Light is the electromagnetic radiation that has wavelength in the range from about 3,900 to about 7,700 angstroms and that may be perceived by the unaided, normal human eye. Brightness is the eye’s perception of the electromagnetic radiation. Light is a source of illumination. Either definition implies the scientific production of light as well as the human perception of light.

Lighting design is both technical and art. It is the application of quantity and type of light to a space. Lighting design should be used to illuminate and enhance. Light itself is important but the effects of light are of greater importance in our daily lives.

Lighting Control is the automation of light to create a variety of light levels and scenes to provide the greatest flexibility and therefore maximize the value of the investment in home or office environment.

PEMBA combines knowledge of electrical components and fixtures, lamp technology, construction, interior design, lighting control, flow theory and optimization to develop a lighting design which enhances your home or office, and matches the lifestyle and personality of the owner or resident.

Each home, office or building is different. PEMBA’s design emphasis is to enhance architectural and decorative features as well as ensure that the quantity and quality of light meet the needs of the occupants and is appropriate for the space. Whether you need lighting designed for your medical office, new subdivision, residence, museum, church, etc we can help.

The lighting design process begins by meeting with you, the customer and identifying the theme for the entire site and each area. PEMBA converts your preferences and requirements as well as the physical aspects of the building structure into a lighting plan. We provide you a list of fixtures, cut sheets, a detailed list of fixtures for each room and plan copy for your records. We will add the lighting plan layer to your electronic plans if they are available.

For all lighting designs, PEMBA prefers to also provide the fixtures. We are a stocking distributor with a lighting showroom and have many lighting lines from which to choose. This is not in any way a requirement. It is our experience, however, that others may substitute fixtures and lamps and affect the overall quality of the design.

If you utilize PEMBA for your lighting design, PEMBA will provide you the fixtures at the agreed upon markup from the manufacturer’s prices.

For large projects, PEMBA recommends the use of a lighting control system. The system provides the greatest flexibility without the need to have multiple ganged unsightly switches. For commercial projects we design occupancy sensors and controls to help minimize your watts per foot lighting energy consumption.
